The separation of the design into two wings linked by the entry hall responds to the steep nature of the site. Simple detailing and skillion roof lines lead to a home that blends with the landscape. A sweeping north facing deck is seen through floor to ceiling glass form the main living area and provides for integrated internal and external habitation. the materials of steel, glass and iron sheet give the home a modern edge.

  •    Cheltenham

A large family home with in-ground pool and lavish upper-level parents retreat, this project was challenged by issues of significant trees and construction on boundary. The extensive cabinetry and commercial windows are stunning and the clever landscaping adds to the street appeal of this contemporary classic.

  •    Gilberton
  •    Halifax

A challenging project form start to finish, including an internal lift, plunge pool to the second level and tilt up construction on 3 boundaries, this home is simply breathtaking. Every detail considered, the home has achieved a dramatic effect with the central steel and timber staircase, artist studio, external chefs kitchen and modern cantilevered wall on the second level western facing façade

  •    McGowan

A contemporary rear living area to a classic sandstone villa. Ground concrete floor, exposed steel verandah and cedar cladding give the addition great character. An external kitchen and servery area adjacent to the pool provide for great summer living and the natural stone bench-tops and splash-backs are striking features.

  •    Redonau

A steep site and dated existing structure coupled with challenging spans and openings were the background for this striking project. THE brief To transform this 1960’s house into a bright open living contemporary house, maximizing the views of the Adelaide city and plains. THE result Floor to ceiling bifold doors leading to extensive decking and pool area provide uninterrupted sweeping views over Adelaide from the main living spaces, which were previously utilised as a squash court. A striking master suite is separated from the remaining bedrooms and provides privacy and warmth again embracing the city views

  •    Robert

This home’s take on simplicity of design, ultimately compliments the original brief for a contemporary style home. The major drive on this project was to embrace the northern and western aspects of the block with the view to maximize the north and south aspects for energy efficiency together with the western views of the creek and flora beyond. A pool to the northern boundary provides a visual focus while the use of natural finishes in specific areas ‘softens’ the modern facade. A sloping site also required a clever response, which has been used to further express living spaces and provides a point of difference to the project.

We found Urban Habitats not only very competitive pricewise but an extremely efficient company to work with. I was closely associated with the day to day activities involved in building our new home and so had a lot to do with the trades people and I can honestly say that both their professionalism and attitude “nothing is too much trouble” came through in every trade. The job was finish in the agreed nine month which to my way of thinking is remarkable.

The process of building our home with Urban Habitats had many advantages, dealing with a company who value their reputation and deliver results in the time frame promised.

Dealing with qualified trades people who take pride in their work. Having help with selections and design including colour selection made the process very easy. Being able to see previously completed projects, gave an insight to the attention to detail and quality of completed homes.
